API Usage Terms & Conditions

1. Overview

Beverage Finder (“the Service”) is provided by Taps + Tables and relies on select third-party APIs, including the Google Maps Platform, to deliver location-based functionality. By using the Service, you acknowledge that certain features depend on these APIs and that costs may be incurred if usage exceeds the free monthly allocation provided by Google.

2. APIs Used

The Service integrates the following Google Maps Platform APIs:

1. Dynamic Maps JavaScript API

• Powers interactive maps with custom markers, styles, and live data from our database.
• Free Tier: First 10,000 map loads per month per account (Essentials Tier).
• Overage Rate: $5.60 per 1,000 additional loads (subject to change by Google).

2. Geocoding API

• Converts physical addresses into latitude/longitude coordinates for mapping.
• Free Tier: First 10,000 requests per month per account (Essentials Tier).
• Overage Rate: $4.00 per 1,000 additional requests.
• Beverage Finder Optimization: To help control costs, all geocoded coordinates are stored in our secure database so that repeat requests for the same location do not incur additional charges. Geocoding will only be repeated if a location is modified or removed from the database.

3. Geolocation API

• Determines a user’s approximate location based on their IP address or device location services.
• Free Tier: First 10,000 requests per month per account (Essentials Tier).
• Overage Rate: $5.00 per 1,000 additional requests.

3. Responsibility for API Costs

• Your Beverage Finder subscription does not include unlimited API usage.
• The free monthly quotas above apply to the Google Cloud billing account associated with your API key.
• Taps + Tables / Beverage Finder is not responsible for any overage charges.
• All API overage fees are billed directly by Google to the billing account owner.
• It is your responsibility to monitor API usage via the Google Cloud Console and configure usage alerts or quotas to prevent unexpected charges.

4. Cost Management Recommendations

To avoid unnecessary fees:

• Keep your API key secure to prevent unauthorized usage.
• Enable quotas in the Google Cloud Console for each API.
• Only delete locations when necessary; deleting all locations will require re-geocoding and may result in additional costs.
• Consider using static map solutions for simple displays where possible.

5. Changes to API Pricing

Google may change pricing, quotas, or usage policies at any time. While Taps + Tables will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes, you are solely responsible for reviewing the most current Google Maps Platform pricing at: https://mapsplatform.google.com/pricing/

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Taps + Tables / Beverage Finder will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from API usage charges.
• Your sole remedy for disputes regarding API billing is with Google, as the API provider.
